Tijah Cattery awarded the Most Consistant Breeder - NSW Abyssinian Breeder Show 2004

The origin of the Abyssinian cat is a bit of a mystery but the most common explanation begins in ancient Egypt. The modern Abyssinian does bear a remarkable resemblance to the sacred cat of the Egyptians as depicted in ancient murals and sculptures. The Abyssinian also bears a close resemblance to the African wildcat. We do know that an Abyssinian cat named "Zula" was imported from Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) to England at the end of the Abyssinian war in 1868. Unfortunately the heritage of Zula is unclear. It is also unclear just where Zula fits into the heritage of the modern Abyssinian.
The modern Abyssinian is one of the most popular and captivating breeds available today. The Aby is an active, enquisitive cat with a sleek coat, expressive eyes, lithe body and a delightful personality. Generally, the Aby is not as vocal as some breeds but the Aby does like company and will always be there wanting to help with any little task.

Occasionally there is a short waiting period for a special kitten, but normally, Tijah kittens are available throughout the year. Tijah offers descendants from top imported bloodlines from the USA.
Abyssinian kittens have special purrsonalities that will make you laugh. They have a confident nature mixed with a dash of mischievousness, speed and agility. The Aby loves to play and will be in, on, under everything. Pedigree Abyssinians eat normal cat food and will use a litter box. We do however, recommend a high quality diet consisting of both wet and dry food.
