Spotted and Marble cats

THE BENGAL CAT

You have possibly read stories of famous people with exotic pets, such as, leopards or cheetahs. For years people have tried to domesticate the wild cat, to tame part of that wild spirit yet, retain the majestic appearance that sets them apart from the humble domestic moggy. Out of this desire came the Bengal breed, a descendant of the Asian Leopard Cat.

The Asian Leopard Cat

The Asian Leopard Cat is a shy, non-aggressive cat about the same size as a large domestic cat. Spotted Bengals have a distinctive wild appearance with beautiful background colours ranging from tawny to orange with brown to black spots, swirls and rosettes. All Bengal kittens must have spotted tummies and a black tail tip. Kittens are born exhibiting bright colour and markings, only to fade at 8 to 12 weeks, then return to splendid colour from five months to maturity.

THE BREEDERS GOALS

Our goal is to closely replicate the appearance of our wild ancestor to help take the pressure off the wild population. Great consideration has been given in the selection of hardy bloodlines to improve each generation in markings and temperament.

AVAILABILITY

Occasionally there is a short waiting period for a special kitten, but normally, Tijah kittens are available throughout the year. Our speciality is the high contrasted, leopard-spotted markings with strong emphasis on wild appearance. Tijah offers descendants from top imported bloodlines from the USA and UK.

LIVING WITH A BENGAL

Bengals have special purrsonalities that will make you laugh. They have a confident nature mixed with a dash of mischievousness. Most Bengals love to play in water so don't be suprised if one joins you in the bath or shower. Bengals eat normal cat food and will use a litter box. We do however, recommend a high quality diet consisting of both wet and dry food.
